Set in the heart of Luang Prabang, a town declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1995, Amantaka offers the space of grace, tranquility and luxury combined. Amantaka derives its name from ‘aman’, meaning ‘peace’ in Sanskrit, and from Tipitaka, meaning ‘the teaching of Buddha’. It is set on a large garden estate, housed in French colonial buildings, which reflects the town’s French history.

Set just south of Mount Phousi, Amantaka is a short 10 minute drive from Luang Prabang International Airport. The resort is within walking distance of the town’s main street – boutiques, bakeries and restaurants, as it is located just south of Mount Phousi in the centre of the picturesque Luang Prabang peninsula whilst providing access to the town’s many historic sites including more than 30 golden-spired temples and the former Royal Palace, a classic example of the town’s unique blend of 19th and 20th century French colonial and Lao architectural traditions

Amantaka offers 24 suites ranging in size from 70 to 120 square metres each. These include eight Suites, four Pool Suites, eight Khan Pool Suites, two Mekong Pool Suites and two Amantaka Pool Suites. Entered from louvered doors from the courtyard, each suite contains a spacious interior and exterior living area. The eight suites each feature a king size bed positioned under a high ceiling. Facilities include a writing desk, table and chairs, chaise lounge and cabinet containing a private bar. The bathroom features twin vanities, a dressing area, shower, toilet, and separate island bathtub. The living and bedroom open onto an outdoor areas shaded by mango trees with lounges and large umbrellas. These amenities are available in all twenty four suites.

Amantaka offers authentic Lao and French-influenced cuisine in a number of dining venues. The Dining Room provides an airy colonial ambience while the Lounge Bar is the perfect spot for relaxing. The breezy Pool Terrace is a casual dining spot and serves light meals all day. Private dining can be arranged in a choice of secluded locations around the property, as well as in the privacy of guests’ suites. Amantaka’s Spa features four self-contained treatment rooms, as well as steam and sauna facilities with hot and cold plunge pools. Treatments range from massages and facials to scrubs and wraps, all using organic products as well as local ingredients used for centuries in Lao therapeutic preparations. Amantaka also offers various privately guided walking tours that allow the guest to visit the many of the temples resting in Luang Prabang as well as arrange visits to the Buddhist Archives.
