This 10 day Itinerary is specifically crafted for quality family time. Travel through the world famous Cape Winelands, partake in awe inspiring tours showcasing the best of Cape Town and experience malaria free safari within the Garden Route! All activities are hand picked to strike the perfect balance for all  members of the family and leave a lasting impression you can treasure for a lifetime.

  • Day 1-2

    Day 2
    We depart the city for the winelands in the nearby Boland Mountains for a leisurely exploration of historic towns, liquid delights, gastronomic wonders and home-grown hospitality. Wine estates visited will vary according to your preferences and there are chances aplenty en route for tastings of world-renowned reds and whites, as well as Cap Classiques  South Africas answer to Champagne. Some estates also offer child-friendly activities including Blauuwklippen, which has a collection of historic carriages; Spice Route, which houses a glass-blowing studio and animal petting farm; and Fairview, whose goats provide endless amusement and great cheeses.
    On route we visit Butterfly World, the largest park for butterflies in southern Africa. Stroll through the indoor garden as beautiful butterflies flutter freely around you.
    We will then have lunch at one of the many classic restaurants in the area before a final wine tasting. On our way home we stop at the Eagle Encounters at Spier Estate, a bird of prey rehabilitation and conservation centre, with a rare opportunity to photograph some of Africas largest raptors at close quarters.
    We end the day with a visit to Cheetah Outreach in Somerset West where we learn about these endangered animals and the importance of their conservation with a chance to pet these majestic cats  always under the watchful eye of their trained handlers.
    The routing of this day will depend on guests wine preference and/or choice of activities.


  • Day 3-6

    Day 3
    Depart from Stellenbosch back to beautiful Cape Town
    Day 4
    The first stop is Table Mountains Lower Cableway Station, for a 5-minute revolving cable car ride to the top. We will explore the mountains summit and absorb the breathtaking views before descending.
    We then return to the city via the old Cape Malay Quarter, for a walk through the Company Gardens, a fresh produce garden for ships and locals from the mid-17th Century, and now home to the South African Museum, Houses of Parliament, National Gallery and St. Georges Cathedral.
    Move on to the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront to visit the Two Oceans Aquarium  so named because both the Indian and Atlantic oceans wash this southern tip of Africa  which showcases the incredible diversity of marine life found in these waters.
    Next, head up to Signal Hill to witness the firing of the Noon Day Gun, Cape Towns oldest living tradition. After a delicious a la carte lunch we browse one of the local craft centers.
    Day 5
    Depart the city and head south in the direction of the Cape of Good Hope depending on which of the following activities you have chosen (weather dependent):
    ·Board a boat in Hout Bay for a 45-minute cruise to Duiker Island, home to thousands of Cape fur seals and marine birds.
    ·Paddle a kayak to the quaint cove of Boulders Beach for a surfside view of the unique African penguin colony.
    We lunch at a coastal restaurant in False Bay before departing on our afternoon chosen activity (age-specific):
    ·Hunt for a selection of tumble-polished gemstones among the thousands that cover the floor at Scratch Patch and Mineral World.
    ·Visit the Cape Point Ostrich Farm, where the worlds largest bird is bred.
    ·View more than 40 reptile species at the Imhoff Snake & Reptile Rehabilitation Park.
    ·Experience the World of Birds  Africas largest bird park, with over 3 000 species of birds and small animals.
    Scenic highlights include a trip over the breathtaking 600m high Chapmans Peak Drive, the magical vistas of False Bay and the rocky coastline and unique fynbos vegetation of the Cape of Good Hope.

  • Day 7-9

    Gondwana Game Reserve - Garden Route

    Situated in the heart of the Garden Route, you will find a beautiful piece of land that will stir your senses. Set on 11 000 hectares, Gondwana Game Reserve holds the distinction of being the only Fynbos reserve in the world with free roaming Big Five game as well as endangered species like the Cape Mountain Zebra, Black Rhinoceros, and Black Harrier among many others. Its breathtaking beauty will soothe and delight you with its endless mountain views and green rolling hills blanketed in colourful fynbos. The reserve is accessibly situated 25 minutes outside the charming coastal town of Mossel Bay and a mere 4 hours drive from Cape Town. It shares the areas´ idyllic climate - second most moderate in the world, and is Malaria-free, offering prime year-round game viewing.
    Your time  will be spent by partaking in breath taking twice daily game drives, letting your young ones become honarary rangers in Gondwana's Junior Ranger Program and taking in the scenery by mountain biking through this wonderous part of the world.

Gondwana Game Reserve Child Policy:
Children under the age of 6 are not allowed on the standard game drives for their safety and the enjoyment of other guests.
Children age 6 – 12 can join in on junior ranger experience.
The program includes educational game drives, interactive activities, junior ranger packs and completion badges.
The younger children’s activities will be based mainly around the lodge to stay closer to parents
