Provence is famous for her beautiful landscape of terraced vineyards, quaint charming villages, and lovely forests, and certainly, it is your quintessential French countryside. Hiking is the best way to appreciate its beauty.
This small group departure offers 4 days of hiking through a less visited trail of Provence and stay in small villages with comfortable and charming accommodations. You will be treated with delicious traditional Provencal cuisine with local wine in every evening.

Day 1 | 30 Sep (Sat) | Marseilles Arrival / Avignon
Upon arrival, you will be driven about 1 hr 15 min to Avignon, the capital of Provence. It is the centrepiece of history, arts and all things beautiful of Provence.
This afternoon, enjoy a walking tour of this graceful city within a superbly preserved stone rampart. We will spend much time in Palais des Papes (Palace of the Pope) – for almost 8 decades in the 14th Century, 7 Popes were based here instead of Vatican.
In the evening, be treated to a welcome dinner in the city

Day 2 | 1 Oct (Sun) | Avignon / Crillon de Brave
This morning we travel north to Chateauneuf-du-Pape, where famous wines have been produced for more than a thousand years. We walk amid the famed grapes, on farming tracks between parcels of Grenache, Syrah, and the altogether 13 varietals that make up this 850-year old wine-making tradition.
We stop at a renowned wine estate for a visit and wine tasting, where the secrets of the Cotes du Rhone wines will be unveiled.

~ Difficulty: Flat TerrainIn the afternoon transfer to the Pont du Gard, an aqueduct of immense proportions, and a marvel of Roman architecture.

Day 3 | 2 Oct (Mon) | Les Dentelles de Montmirail
The day begins with the circumnavigation of the Dentelles following the Randonnées du Pays and Tour des Dentelles de Montmirail.
We firstly be transferred to Seguret, our stating point of the hike. It is a picturesque little village that stretches in a narrow band around the flank of a solitary hill. It is also known as an artists’ colony, including makers of santons, delicate and detailed figurines in regional costumes.
We head south to the wine village of Gigondas, on the western side of the hills. After lunch, continue by foot through the vine-laden hills with magnificent views of the Rhône valley, carpeted by a veritable sea of vines.

Day 4 | 3 Oct (Tue) | Crillon le Brave / Les Baux / St Remy
This morning transfer to Van Gogh’s Provence for our walk through the Alpilles mountain range along olive groves before reaching Les-Baux-de-Provence, amongst the most beautiful perched medieval villages in France, a medieval hamlet set high on a rocky outcrop in the Alpilles.
We’ll pass intimate squares and leafy terraces on our way up to the gates of the citadel. We visit, explore the ruins of the citadel, see a collection of medieval war machines, and take in expansive views of the plains below.
In the afternoon, we visit the Carrières de Lumières, a magnificent, dynamic light-show museum created in the underground quarry of Les Baux-de-Provence. Les Baux is also famed for its olive oil, yet another appellation, the silvery trees draping the foothills of the Alpilles. On our way to St Remy we stop for an olive oil tasting.

Day 5 | 4 Oct (Wed) | St Remy / Fontaine de Vaucluse / Luberon
Stroll through morning Wednesday market before exploring the town, nestled at the foot of the Alpilles mountains.
Afterwards, transfer to Gordes and start our walk in Fontaine de Vaucluse, the very source of the Sorgue river and its emerald green waters. No one or machine has been able to gauge its depths. Following a 300 year-old wall built to ward off the plague – which entered Marseille in 1720 – you walk along paths carved into the bush and cedar forests to Luberon directly to your hotel.

Day 6 | 5 Oct (Thu) | Luberon / Roussillon / Gordes / Luberon
Today, discover the region of Luberon. Colourful houses, dramatically set villages, Luberon without doubt is the most popular areas for visitors in Provence.
We will visit Gordes, sitting stunningly atop a hill. We will visit the working monastery - Abbey de Senqanque. Continue to Roussillon, with its beautiful coloured houses and museum; and enjoy an olive oil tasting in a local olive mill.
This evening, enjoy a farewell dinner.

Day 7 | 6 Oct (Fri) | Luberon / Marseilles departure
This morning, be transferred to Marseilles for a short city tour. Marseilles is a vibrant port city and is the gateway from African into France. Transfer to the airport for flight.
