Graceful pavilions and villa homes, and with a fleet of luxury Amancruises, Amanpuri offers the opportunity to explore the natural beauty of Thailand’s southern paradise island and the Andaman Sea. Amanpuri, one of the exquisite properties, built in 1987, became a flagship property of Aman resorts. Located on the west coast of Phuket, it looks out over the turquoise expanse of the Andaman Sea. Imbibing the grace and elegance of Thai culture, Amanpuri’s luxurious pavilions and villa homes are situated in a coconut plantation, overlooking the Andaman Sea. The pavilions are connected through elevated walkways to the resort’s private white sand beach and facilities. With its fleet of luxury cruisers, Amanpuri also boasts the opportunity to explore the Andaman Sea.

LOCATION

Situated above Pansea Beach on the west coast of Phuket Island, Amanpuri is a 30-minute, 25km drive from Phuket airport. Complimentary private limousine roundtrip transfers to the airport are offered to Charlotte Travel clients.

PAVILIONS & VILLAS

There are 40 Pavilions and 30 Villas at Amanpuri. Each pavilion has its own outdoor sala (entrance) and sun deck. Elevated walkways connect the pavilions to the resort’s facilities. Rates of the Pavilion are determined according to view and location. Three pavilions feature their own private pools, surrounded by lush tropical vegetation. Each villa features separate dining, bedroom and living pavilions, a fully-equipped kitchen, a cook and a housekeeping service.

HIGHLIGHTS

A holistic sanctuary that nurtures both body and mind, Aman Spa is set in a secluded coconut grove. It features six spacious Thai-style pavilions, each offering an open, light-filled space of wood and glass with private steam room, shower, bath, dressing area and an outdoor meditation sala. Treatments can be enjoyed individually or as a couple. The Spa also includes a sauna, granite steam room and fountain terrace where health drinks are served. At daybreak, complimentary guided yoga and meditation sessions are offered, in the open-sided teakwood salas, set high on the hillside. The menu is extensive, including a range of healing therapies, as well as traditional treatments such as facials, body wraps, scrubs and baths.

There are a variety of activities possible at Amanpuri. They provide equipment for windsurfing, snorkeling and kayaking on Pansea Beach. PADI-accredited dive programs are also available year-round. Six tennis courts are lit for night play and five international-standard golf courses are located within a 40-minute drive of Amanpuri. Amanpuri’s own intimate Beach Club features a 20m lap pool and a Thai sala with a cocktail bar and lounge seating. The resort’s central swimming pool becomes a place of tranquility at dusk, as the sun sets into the Andaman Sea.

The Island’s Khao Phra Thaeo National Park is dense with jungle foliage and ideal for elephant trekking. There is a museum in Phuket Town and another in Talang, the latter boasting excellent maps and a large collection of artefacts from the Moluccas.

There are approximately 30 Buddhist temples on the island. Among the most interesting are Wat Chalong, with its gilt statues of two revered monks, Wat Phra Thong with its half-buried Buddha statue, and Wat Phra Nang Sang, which includes some fascinating frescoes and Buddha heads that date back 3,000 years. Phuket also has several Islamic mosques.
