From early December to mid April Trout Rock Lodge is a warm, inviting home away from home in a vast expanse of snow and frozen water. Travel to the Lodge by van and Hagglunds (an enclosed tracked vehicle ideal for the snowy North) or by snowmobiles. During the day, drive snowmobile on the frozen lake, ice fish for fierce Northern Pike or Ling cod. Try snowshoeing along the windswept shoreline, or go for a tour in the Hagglunds. At night enjoy the Aurora, right from the Lodge deck, or venture out on the lake to take in a 360 degree view overhead.
One night stay in Explorer Hotel, locates in the town centre of Yellowknife, was honored to host Prince William and Princess Kate during their Royal Tour of the North in 2011.
Will be greet by your tour guide. Head to lunch at local restuarnt. Sightseeing in Yellowknife town, discovery its indigenous culture , Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre, passing by Canadian Forces Northern Area Headquarters (CFNA), city hall and residential area etc. Based on the weather condition, riding on the iced and frozen lake.
Heading for Trout Rock Lodge, by passing Highway No.3 by a van 30 minutes and Hagglunds 30 minutes, arrive no man's land. Mr. Ragnar Wesstrom welcomes all guests in reception. Take a rest and nap, after dinner, it's time to go Aurora hunting tour in Great Slave Lake, without any barrier, 360 degreee of panronama view.
There is no running water or showers at the lodge during the winter season.
After having Canadian breakfast in the Lodge, head to do sledding tour in lush area Dog Sledding Tour. Lunch at local restaurant. Relax in the Lodge . After dinner, enjoy all night aurora viewing in Great Slave Lake directly under the Auroral Oval.
During the day, drive your own snowmobile on the frozen lake, ice fish for fierce Northern Pike or Ling cod. Try snowshoeing along the windswept shoreline. In the afternoon, leave the Lodge and back to Yellowknife city.
